Description

Sorry for this not being the greatest drawing. I mostly drew this to test out using graphite and white pencil on colored paper to draw a portrait. The only time I spent working on it was a couple hours last night before I went to bed, and a couple hours today after school.

So I learned that it was better to put the graphite over the white pencil, rather than the other way around and that Mi-Teintes paper is very ruff and smears a lot by mistake. I will definitely need to practice drawing on a medium toned paper because my brain got confused with adding both the lights and the darks, but leaving the paper for the medium tones.

Although this is smeary and sloppy, I really do like it. I actually love all my drawings, even the little doodles I don't show people. All of the places in it that did not turn out the way I planned makes this drawing mine

My reference was an old picture of my sister Brittany. She was one years old, and I wasn't even born yet :p
It's 8"x10" on yellowish Canson Mi-Teintes paper with graphite and a white prismacolor pencil.

For a first attempt it is really, really nice, Kirby! You did very well the black/white balance :) At least looks really good to me.
I definitely want to try this sometime this year, but with black and white charcoal.
