Any suggestions for a name for this is most welcome. I can't think of anything more creative than Tiger right now...
I started this mid April last year and I only just got around to finishing it. It didn't even take that many hours, I just couldn't get myself to work on it. A lot of it was because I though it was going very well and I was afraid to mess it up. But I'm glad it's finally finished.
I got the reference picture from a free background website. This is my first drawing with watercolor pencils. I used a combination of Prismacolor and Loew-Cornell. They worked well together. The Prismacolor ones were smoother and bolder, but the Loew-Cornell were cheaper and the lead broke less often. To use them, I drew with them dry, on dry paper. For bolder areas of color I slightly moistened the pencil before using it. It's 9"x12" on Canson Mix Media paper.
I really like how this came out, but I wish I could have finished it sooner to when I started it. My drawing technique is always evolving, so there is a lot of inconsistencies in this drawing. The whiskers were the hardest part to draw and I avoided doing so for a very long time. I found this old WIP picture: [link] I thought it was interesting because my drawing of Neil Patrick Harris was also incomplete.
...and title suggestions:
"You talkin' to me?"
"Look me in the eye when i'm talkin' to you!"
"Seriously? Where d'you think Wolverine got his whisker idea from?"
and lastly (jokes aside) : "Fearful symmetry"
you are talented and it shows!
